October AWC Community Breakfast Recap: Health, Support, and Community Resources

On October 2, 2024, the Aurora Wellness Community hosted another insightful breakfast, filled with important updates, programs, and resources for our community. Here's a recap of the key highlights:

SafeCare Colorado

We were introduced to SafeCare Colorado, a voluntary program designed to support parents and caregivers of children aged five and under. This program offers in-home or virtual visits to provide tools and guidance on home safety, child health, and parent-child relationships.

Through SafeCare, families can learn how to reduce household hazards, manage childhood illnesses, and build stronger connections with their children.

Department of Health Equity: "Healing the Divide"

Deborah Parra-Medina shared exciting news about the upcoming “Healing the Divide: A Community-Campus Forum” on October 19, 2024.

This event will bring together experts and community members to discuss health equity and tackle systemic health disparities. The event is free and open to the public, and we encourage you to participate in this important dialogue.

Double Up Food Bucks Update

We also heard about the Double Up Food Bucks program, which helps SNAP recipients afford more fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers. The program matches up to $20 per day for SNAP purchases at participating markets and grocers, making fresh, healthy food more accessible to families across Colorado.

Stay tuned for future events and updates from the Aurora Wellness Community as we continue working together to promote health, equity, and well-being for all.

Actualización de Double Up Food Bucks
